Learn to sew while making several fun projects that you'll use over & over. We'll be learning the basics of sewing while we make a kitchen gripper/a scrubby, a zipper bag, a decorative pillow, a round drawstring bag, and a pair of PJ shorts/pants.
This class is for the beginner sewist or those who wish to improve upon their skills. "I'd love to learn how to sew." "I could never do that". "That's so cool. I wish I could do that." "I bought a machine, now what?" "I know very little about sewing. I wish I felt more comfortable with my skills." Have you ever said any of these or felt this way? Have you purchased a new machine and you’d like to make some easy projects to help you learn to use it? This class is for you!
This class meets for five weeks and has two sessions coming up:
Thursday evenings from 5 to 8 pm beginning on May 15th.
Friday mornings from 10 am to 1 pm beginning on September 5th.
This is a monthly class for owners of top of the line Husqvarna Viking sewing machines. We focus on different chapters of the workbook each month and learn new techniques. It’s never too late to participate! Join in for the techniques you’re interested in and skip the ones that aren’t for you.
I believe in creating a small project with your new skills, not just learning the technique.
This month is chapter 10, which focuses on Programming. You will learn how to program stitches, text and numbers and we will review using 8-way stitches. Your programmed stitch can be up to 20” and can be programmed in sewing or embroidery mode! The project is a fun zipper bag. You can easily adapt this to make a potholder, table topper, pillow, or use your creativity to come up with your own unique project. The options are endless!
If you're not sure if your machine is compatible with this class, feel free to reach out to me.
This class meets on the third Saturday of each month from 10 am to 3 pm. Chapter 10 is on May 17th.

This month is chapter 11 and we'll get into the wonderful world of Design Positioning! This technique allows placement of a design exactly where you want it in the hoop, at exactly the angle you need it, even aligning with a previously stitched embroidery design. We will explore three methods. Templates & simple placement, using the mySewMonitor App and using design positioning. Please, bring an item that you’d like to add some embroidery to and the designs that you’d like or have an idea of which built in designs you'd like to use. Your options are endless and everyone’s project will be unique to them.

This class typically meets on the third Saturday of each month from 10 am to 3 pm. However, this month will be a bit early to accommodate summer schedules. Chapter 11 is on June 7th.
Open sew class sessions are classes that I do not plan a specific project or technique to teach. You bring a project that you're working on and need a little assistance with. Maybe you're working on making a skirt, new curtains, a pillow, a quilt, adding machine embroidery to a purchased item, getting started on a counted cross stitch,... I can help with sewing, quilting, home decor, machine embroidery, bag making, counted cross stitch and more. If you're interested in having an open sew class session with me at the Sew 'n Place, please send me an email and I will get something scheduled.
I am looking into teaching at other locations too. Sign up to receive my emails to stay up to date.
